Connect the dots in your decorating scheme
Polka dots are a classic design pattern.
Ever thoughts about decorating with dots? Sometimes we think dots are childish, but they go well in an adult setting, adding a spot of interest to your home design plan.
Dots can be formal when the same size dots are arranged consistently, or they can be casual when various sized dots are arranged in a random pattern, or not-so-perfectly-round shapes are used. Dots are probably best in small quantities, as an accent, but not as the focal point of a room.
Polka dots look classic in black and white, and they can be exotic and fun in a variety of colors. Good dot colors for home decor include cream and black, cream and chocolate brown, dark blue and white, or earth tone on earth tone, with almost any subdued color.
For a polka dot accent piece in your home, think furniture and drapery fabrics, throw pillows, bedding, table linens, wall coverings, rugs and even dishware and glassware.
